Community Garden Walk and Bike Tour - September 28th, 2024 at 10 am

Learn about your local, you-pick community gardens on a walking or cycling tour!

Tour includes:

  • Learning about each garden’s history, impact, communities served, what is growing, and future plans

  • Garden activities such as harvesting and tasting available foods and building a flower bouquet

  • Refreshments provided throughout the tour

  • A free bicycle tune-up with Wildcat Wheels

Participants registering for a cycling tour can choose to tour in a guided group or can complete a self-led tour, individually and at their own pace. Please register for the tour option you are interested in.

All participants registering for the walking tour will be touring in a group with a tour guide.

Aid stations will be available to all participants throughout the route, until noon.

Registration ends September 20th.

Get involved in other ways.

The Community Garden Walk and Bike Tour is an effort to raise awareness of our free, you-pick gardens available to the community and to fundraise for the necessary garden maintenance that keeps these spaces producing food. Consider volunteering your time during this event or sponsoring a garden. Interested in collaborating in another way? Email Haley@seedleaf.org.

FAQs

What do I need to bring with me?

Bring anything you may need to safely spend and hour or so walking or cycling outdoors (sun protection, comfortable shoes, etc.), and we recommend bringing a bag or bike basket if you plan to harvest and/or build a flower bouquet during the tour.

Can kids participate?

Yes! This is a family-friendly event - kids who are old enough to cycle or walk safely along city streets with an accompanying adult may join. Everyone must be registered with a participation waiver (anyone under 18 must have a legal guardians signature).

What if there is inclement weather?

In case of heavy rainfall, lightning, or other severe weather conditions the tour will be cancelled and you will have the option of a full refund.

Are dogs allowed?

Leashed dogs are welcome to join in on the walking tour or may ride along in a pet-safe bicycle carrier. Pet owners can view the route maps below to determine if this is a safe activity for their pet to participate in.
