The Good Giving Challenge is a gut-busting sprint of a fundraiser that lasts one week, from Tuesday, November 27, 2018 until Monday, December 3, 2018. Every day, we’ll provide specific ways for folks to give and participate in helping us reach our goal — a brand-spanking-new educational pavilion up at the urban farm space, also called North Farm.

In addition to providing a place where neighbors can gain skills and store garden tools, the pavilion will function as a meeting place where all of us involved in Seedleaf’s work can clean harvested produce, rest in the shade, share meals, talk shop and learn from other gardeners and community members.

Here’s a rundown of how you can participate this week:

Tuesday, November 27th

• Come eat at Doodle’s

  • From 8am until noon, we’ll have a table set up to accept donations, and Doodle’s is also donating a portion of their sales to us for the day. Eat breakfast and lunch there! And bring your friends!

Wednesday, November 28th

• Grab coffee at Cup of Commonwealth

  • From 11am until 2pm, we’ll be talking Seedleaf and accepting donations. Give while you get caffeinated!

• Cocktails at Ona’s

  • If you drink alcohol, you’ll want to spend the evening with us at Ona’s, one of Lexington’s best bars. Come say hi between 8pm and midnight, and drink whatever it is James recommends. Seriously.

Thursday, November 29th

• Fundraising Match Day

  • A generous donor has agreed to match every donation we receive — up to $2,000! All you have to do is give here on this day to double your gift.

Friday, November 30th

• The Amazing Ambassador Raffle — $25 Alfalfa gift certificate, 2 Lexington Philharmonic tickets to the show of your choice (a $150 value), 1 Michler’s orchid ($75 value), one Seedleaf-provided raised garden bed ($250 value)

  • All you have to do to enter is become an Good Giving Challenge Ambassador by setting up an Ambassador page. Instructions are here. Share at least 2 #GoodGivingChallenge social media posts (suggestions here) on your own account on 4 out of the 7 days of the challenge that include your ambassador page link and ask folks to donate. You must also reshare at least 5 Seedleaf posts during the week. Winners will be announced the Tuesday following the challenge, December 4th.

Saturday, December 1st

• Buy Us Some Gear!

  • We have a wish list with some very specific tools on it, and we’re looking for people to buy those tools outright. We’ll let you know what we’re in need of at the start of the day.

Sunday, December 2nd

• Andrew Russell English Concert

  • The frontman and primary songwriter for Englishman and The Scourge of the Sea provides an intimate, all ages show at Al’s Bar. All proceeds from the door will be donated to Seedleaf. Doors are at 4pm. Show is at 4:30pm. The event will end at 6pm. Details here.

Monday, December 3rd

• Pop-up Trivia Night at Winchell’s

  • At 6pm, on the last night of the #GoodGivingChallenge, get a team together and defeat your rivals! $5 suggested donation. Details can be found here.
