We’ll be out again at the London Ferrell Community Garden tomorrow with a bit more bedding down, maintenance, turning the compost and harvesting the greens. Feel free to join us between 10 and noon on Saturday morning, November 21st.

We will not be working on November 28th.

Thanks to some warmer (and lovely) days, there is still stuff to do at the London Ferrel Community Garden. Come out this Saturday, November 14th between 10am and 1pm for maintenance, harvesting, and some more bedding down chores.

A hearty THANK YOU to the nearly 20 volunteers who showed up tonight to La Roca UMC for the First Annual Pumpkin Pie Party! Not only did 10 pumpkins sacrifice their lives for the event, but 20 pumpkin pies were made! And with over 10 extra cups of pumpkin puree, we’ve got stores now for the next Communal Cooking Event – SOUP Making!! Look for more details to come, and enjoy some of the highlights of the event below.

Again, much thanks to Reed Valley Orchard for growing and donating the pumpkins, the Lexington Urban Gleaning Network for picking them up, and The Rock/ La Roca UMC for providing the kitchen space!

Come join us for another event in Seedleaf’s Communal Cooking Series and share in the warmth of cooking and conversing together with local produce and loving hearts.

Using pumpkins that were gleaned by volunteers of the Lexington Urban Gleaning Network at Reed Valley Orchard,we hope to transform these golden gourds to tasty homemade pumpkin pies just in time for the holidays. The pies will then be passed on the various charitable organizations that help feed people during the holiday season and throughout the year. But don’t worry, we’ll be sure to get a sampling ourselves.

What: Pumpkin Pie Making Party!
When: Tuesday, November 10th, 6pm – 8:30pm
Where: The Rock/ La Roca UMC at 1015 N. Limestone
Who: YOU!!! Whether you’re a pie making expert or a total newbie, we need your help!
Details:  We’ll provide the pie ingredients, but be sure to bring your aprons and a dish to share for a potluck meal while we wait for the baking to conclude!
